New kid on the block......

Hi guys!

I stumbled onto this forum and thought I'd say hello. Some of you have already helped me with a issue over on the Garmin forum and I thank you.

I got my first GPS unit, a Garmin Nuvi 2595LMT, a few days ago and found this site from a thread on GPS reveiw.net. With guidence from here and another site I've created two POIs, one for Cracker Barrel and another for a gas station chain, Kangaroo, complete with voice notification. I can't wait for the gas one to activate on my way to work next week. Kewl beans!

I am retiring July 1st and will be using the Garmin to travel with. We've used our time share over the years to go to various places but finding good hotels and resturants has been very frustrating. Using GPS will solve all that. Too bad I hadn't discovered it's true power until now. I am truly amazed at the capabilities of these things - and voice too. Woot!.

See ya on the boards!

Nuvi 2595LMT

I love my

2595LMT. Learning new things that isn't in the manual. Traffic is right on the money letting you know where the back-up is.

You can test from the comfort of your home.

Read about simulation here. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/31482

I hadn't got that far.....

....in my exploration of my GPS.

I follewed the link you gave. I put in locations before and after the Kangaroo gas station located near me and the custom POI gave me the voice alert. Now off to test the Cracker Barrel POI!

I'll look for the beginners guides right away.

Thanks much!

Welcome to the forum Mac. You don' have to wait until next week. You can put your nuvi in simulation mode. Start from a location such as your home, then program to go work. Your nuvi will then start doing the route in simulation mode.

Here is a site I think you would enjoy.
