Nuvi 2460LMT keeps getting slower

I've had my Nuvi 2460LMT for almost a year and it keeps getting slower. It takes 45-60s to power up and load the maps. Calculating local routes takes 30-60s. Searching for a POI and selecting takes 5-10s to draw it on the map. Everything is just slow.

I have the latest software and maps. Any ideas on things to try and speed it up? I thought about using Windows defrag o n the device.

Any ideas?

Seconds??

While we all wish that our devices were instantaneous, it has to do a lot of calculations with the data we have given it. However, the times you give do not seem so terrible to me.

Assuming you have a recent backup of favorites (current.gpx), why don't you try a master reset, put the favorites (renamed as current1.gpx) back on the unit and see what the times are?

Can TrafficTrencds be the problem?

I understand TrafficTrends on newer models can lead to slowdowns; perhaps disabling it would help?

Garmin Drive 61, nuvi 2597MT, too many really.

Perhaps it's the trends

You could try turning off the trends that learn how you drive and guesstimates at traffic trends. By turning those features off, then it shouldn't have to sift through your traffic history.

MyTrends and TrafficTrends

I don't have one of the newer units with these features, but other users have reported that you can speed it up by disabling TrafficTrends and MyTrends.

Edit: oops ... jfossy beat me to it.

Please, try disabling trends...

That's what did it for me -- going from taking minutes to calculate a route to a few seconds to calculate a route, by disabling trends and the eco-features.

Please, try it and let us know -- leave tracks for others to follow to figure out what works and what doesn't!
