Geocache mistaken for a pipe bomb

Some humour for geocachers in the forums. A friend of mine asked "So did SWAT get to claim the FTF?"

Suspected pipe bomb actually a ‘geocache’
For more than three hours, Toronto emergency units investigated a suspected pipe bomb taped to a lamppost in an exclusive west-end neighbourhood...

"You can't get there from here"

How can they call that a geocache??

It was taped to a lamppost. Geocaches are not in plain site, but hidden!

The should look at the positive side

A good training experiance. But the Geocashers need to also do a better job.

Happened here in 2006.

I recall watching the story unfold on the local news and figuring it was a geocache. smile

two bombs this week

This past week, two similar yellow flashlights, the 6V cube battery kind, left in two different areas for someone to find exploded in the Phoenix AZ area. According to the police they were designed with the purpose of hurting people, but thankfully there was only one person slightly injured.

With crazies like that, it won't be long before geocaches are regularly suspected too.

Back to God!!!

Crazies on Twitter too. ---

Crazies on Twitter too. --- One of them got Homeland Security & the FBI interested in a doctor going on a cruise & got him kicked off the cruise. Completely bogus accusations were posted on Twitter. This happened last week.
A few months back, a relative of mine living in S Korea had a conversation with a Korean acquaintance of his there, who was active in either law enforcement or the military. They were investigating something stashed, and obviously in secret, by a suspicious looking foreigner. They couldn't understand the nature of what they found, but were sure it had something to do with espionage. He informed his acquaintance he thought it was a geocache, something scarcely known in S Korea at that time.

Here, too

Happened near here a few years ago. A geocache in an ammo box, and the "tourist info center" just east of Clovis, NM, was discovered by someone with no idea what a geocache is. Police were called, and not only did they look at it, THEY BLEW IT UP!
