travel route

Hi everyone,

I would like some information, my family and I will be traveling from Ottawa, Ontario to Lorton Virginia to catch the auto train to Florida in July. I was wondering what would be best route to take, something that I can program into my Garmin GPS.

Thanks

Ken

google route

This is the route Google chooses 954km 10h 34m travel time in current traffic.

I suggest letting your Garmin make one and compare it with the Google route.

You've asked that question twice before. Why not just follow-up on one of those threads instead of starting yet another one?

Streets & Trips

Microsoft Streets & Trips selected about the same route, but showed just under 9 hours travel time. Of course, construction and traffic conditions would affect the total driving time.

The "best" route would depend upon your definition of "best".

For example: Are you looking for the fastest route, a route that avoids all toll roads, or a route that is very scenic? If you want a scenic route, are you looking for beautiful scenery, avoiding large cities, historic places to visit, or ???

I'm not trying to give you a smart-ass reply, but just to get clarification on what you are looking for. For me personally, the "best" route would be one that took me to several places in that part of the country that are significant in US history, but I recognize that this would probably not be true for many other people - especially citizens of other countries. Also, over the years the "best" routes for me have depended upon the ages of my children when we were traveling.

With best wishes,

This is the best route as long as you have no other requirements. This route avoids the big cities on the east coast. I have driven I-81 through Pennsylvania and down to Gettysburg and the roads are as good as it gets. Check the PENNDOT website and the NY State DOT website for construction.
