Creating POI files from Google Earth searches?

I'm wondering what sources are allowed for use to create POI files for this site? I have a compiled ov2 of free wifi in the phoenix area as well as some other ov2's, but they are largely created from google earth searches which I've converted with POI edit. Does anyone else do this? And is it considered valid information for this site?

.

Yes, lots of people do it that way. Just make sure the the file is in CSV or GPX format when you upload it.

Take a look at the faqs & help page.

Needs to be in csv format if you are using a garmin, I believe that tom toms and other gpsr units use different formats.

Right, but you can't upload the other formats to the site. It needs to be converted to CSV or GPX first.

Oh ok, gotcha!
