How do you add "Custom POI's" icon to the "Where to" menu on the Nuvi2555LMT?
Custom POIs should be in Where To?/Extras/Custom POIs. Custom POIs need to be loaded for the menu choice to show up.
Thanks for the reply. I added some POI's and they show up at the end of the Categories page (right top of "Where To"). But "Add Shortcut" on the search page does not have "Custom POI's" on it. I want to get to "Custom POI's" on the "Where To" page without having to search through all the Categories first. "Add Shortcut" should add the "Custom POI's" to the Search page. Does this make sense?
Not having a 2555, I am only speculating.
Once you verified that "Custom POIs" appeared on the Where To? > Extras menu, did you turn the 2555 off and back on before trying to add the shortcut?
I guess we should also consider that the designers may have felt that moving "custom POIs" to the same level as "Extras" on the "Where To?" menu was overkill?
I have the 2450 ver of your and you can ONLY add the built in ones to the shortcut. There is no way for any of the custom ones can be added which I agree with you, thoses would be the ones that you would want to add to the menu. Maybe Garmin will get there act together someday..
Interesting. The more I learn of these newer nuvi models, the more I worry that I won't be able to offer advice--or my advice may be wrong or irrelevant since I base it on my older model nuvi experiences that are missing these new features.
In any event, this situation where you hope Garmin gets it act together seems that it could be as you wish with a future firmware update of the nuvi 2x5x series.
Hey CraigW, I am also feeling kind of "old and obsolete" in some of these discussions regarding the newer nuvi models. I feel fairly comfortable giving advice on the nuvis up through the 1xxx series, but am at a loss on the 2xxx and 3xxx models. This summer I hope to get a new nuvi, maybe a 3490LMT or 3590LMT.
I found that when driving, I could not do anything with the GPS until I stopped, then I could adust it. I then found a setting thats called something about safe driving mode, ore something like that. I turned off that feature and now, I can do things like add a route (or my passanger could) Many new stuff this these and yep, it is differnet than my old trusty C580!! Belive it or not, I travel with both of them on since I like to know what street is comming up, I already know the street I am driving on!

Easy to know, just hit the vehicle icon and it will tell you what street is coming up or if traveling on the Hwy system it will display the next exit and nearest town.
... and maybe just hang out in the electronics section playing with the new models to learn some while the wife shops.
It's all I'll be able to afford for a little since I only bought the ZUMO 660 15 months ago and traded it up to the Z665 4 months ago. The newer Nuvis interface is a bit different.
