3490LMT Reports Folder

Still experimenting with the 3490LMT and have learned a lot from the posts on this site. A question now arises pertaining to the trip computer. It contains a fuel cost figure. Where does it come from and how do I get it to calculate correctly?

I found a folder titled reports and it contains a protected excel report called mileage is this where the trip computer is getting its fuel info?

Ecoroute

I think it comes from Garmin's optional Ecoroute plugin and ODB II based Ecoroute HD hardware option. Note that some older Garmins had the Ecoroute software functions built in, but on the 34xx/35xx models it is an add-on.

I have that option, was thrown in when i bought my 3790. Useless tool for my Truck. There's nothing on it that my Truck doesn't already have and then some. Cost about 80 bucks. Can't say it's worth the money

What?

Are you saying the $400 model no longer can calculate gas mileage? I saw the $99 gadget on the garmin site and I don't need that. The GPS must have at least the estimated gas cost calculator built in. Really?

It can...but now it will cost you $10 more. Garmin's ecoRoute is now an "option" on the 2012 models (at least the 34xx series for sure that I know of). Other models, I am not sure of. Yes, the ecoRoute program that came happily bundled on the 7x5 and 37xx series (at least) is now an add-on, $10 "App". rolleyes

That is crazy they want to charge $10 for EcoRoute.

Wonder if there is a way to copy the program files from an older unit to a newer one.
