Congress passes bill giving the FAA $11 billion to get off radar, onto GPS
Nothing new there, ADS-B based on GPS, has been a major component of NextGen for well over a decade. But don't look for radar to go away completely, or at all anytime soon.
Also look out for drones 400 feet above your house
(the black helicopters have been there for a long time...)
And NextGen - ADS-B has been the "technology of tomorrow" for a long time now! Maybe, just maybe, it will become the "technology of today."
Very interesting. I'm sure the technical details are pretty impressive. Will be nice to benefit from a modern system.
Certainly a good reason to add yet another layer of aluminum foil to the inside of my hat.....
