My phone does in fact support this because when it syncs up with the Garmin, it will display MAP (Blackberry 9930). However, when you go into the Phone screen on the 3490LMT, there is no button for Text Message as indicated by the Garmin link. Just the Phone Book, Call History, Dial, etc. (I have a screenshot but don't know how to post the .png on POI-Factory. Also, I can't get the http to link to the page above.)
According to Garmin, there is a feature called safe texting which works via bluetooth to phones that support MAP (Message Access Profile).
