Harley Davidson POI (move to their own category?)

I downloaded the Harley Davidson POI to my Nuvi 50LM but now every dealership in the US appears in my favorites. How do I move them to their own category?

tell us more

Step by step what did you do to get the Harley Davidson POI file in the 50LM?

.

I thought that was the point; to have every HD dealer in the US, in a POI. But, I may have missed a memo, or two...

You could always use Extra POI Editor (or Excel) to sort by state, and then delete what you don't need.

BTW, POI's only show the first 50 nearest you IIRC.

Use POI Loader

You don't load the gpx with MapSource and you don't just copy it to your GPS. You must use POI Loader to put them into the Extras>Custom POI folder.

GeePeeEx

Could also use GeePeeEx which is an excellent program for creating and modifying GPX files.

POI's In Favorites?

Are you sure they are in your FAVORITES?

As Flaco stated "Step by step what did you do to get the Harley Davidson POI file in the 50LM?"

If done properly they should NOT have ended up in your favorites but rather in "Extras".
With POILoader you should have created a gpi file named Harley Davidson. If you want to view, just click on extras on your nuvi, then select the Harley Davidson category, there you will see the dealers that are nearest to you. As you drive the list will change showing those dealers that are nearest to your current location.

Sounds Logical

If that's the case I certainly hope the original current.gpx file was backed up so he\she can restore, otherwise looks like Excel or POI Editor will need to be utilized. Good suggestion by Juggernaut to sort by state, should speed up the process considerably.

HD

I just found this and tried to add the file as you guys say, however the POI Loader does not seem to want to upload anything but gpx and csv files. So the gpi file seems to be a little difficult. I was also trying to figure out how to add the custom bmp to the extras folder. All help is appreciated.

welcome!!

Welcome to the site.

POI Loader only reads CSV and GPX files. It outputs a GPI. Look at the help screen for POI Loader and you'll get more information. As to loading icons and sound files, there are several excellent tutorials in the FAQ section. One thing to remember is your unit only plays WAV sound files and you have to use the correct version (not the current) version of SOX to enable the GPS to synchronize the sound, icon and poi.

One more question

Thank you, that was helpful to get some clarity. The official documentation from Garmin seems to be nonexistent, but at least this forum is here.

On a different note, the device appears to create logs during use. Is there a way to delete these? Though they may be helpful during or soon after a ride, I find them annoying to be cluttering up my screen.

Thanks again!!!

Manuals

Have you downloaded the full user manual for your unit? What's packed in the box isn't a user manual but only a "Getting Started" guide. Go to https://support.garmin.com/support/manuals/searchManuals.fac... and find your manual.

Must use gpx version.

The gpi file that I made for the US & Canada H-D Dealers only works on the Zumo 66x devices.

You will need to use the folder that contains the gpx and bmp files. Point POI Loader to that and if your device supports Custom POIs, it will load behind the Custom POI button.

If you want to see if the gpi file will work with your Nuvi, just copy it to the POI folder on your GPS.
