Nuvi 2555 LMT

If you own a 2555LMT; any info as to how you like it would be great. Thinking about getting one but would like to hear from anybody that owns one before buying it.
Thanks.

like my 2495LMT

I've got a 2495LMT, which I believe is the same series with a smaller screen. I'm pleased with the unit as compared to the 765T that I used before. The unit has been a little buggy but there are frequent software updates and the reliability keeps getting better.

I have the "big brother"

I have the "big brother" 2595LMT (adds Voice Command and Bluetooth); so far I'm well pleased with it. Instead of giving you a feature-by-feature review, I'll suggest the excellent review at GPS Tracklog (http://gpstracklog.com/2011/10/garmin-nuvi-2555lmt-review.ht...). I agree with his assessment.

The 2555LMT Looks Like A Possible Replacement

Thanks for that link.

My 255W is plugging along with zero issues. But the new 2555LMT sure looks tempting, especially the larger screen and lifetime maps.

Also looking forward to 2555LMT owners' real world feedback on this one.

OK.....so where the heck am I?

cross streets

Does the 2500 series give the cross streets when driving ? My first garmin did, and I loved it. My 855 unfortunately does not.

Thanks

Yes, thanks for the link on the review.

2555 LMT

I purchased the 2555LMT to replace my TomTom 2405. The Garmin 2555LMT, larger screen, very responsive, quick GPS fix and you can use Garmin BaseCamp to enter Waypoints/Favorites. Entering Waypoints/Favorites not as straight forward as it should be. I also bought a Nuvi 50, great unit as well. The 2555LMT has a more flexible "dashboard" as Garmin calls it to display various information, more flexible than the Nuvi 50. Purchased the 2555LMT at Sam's for $199.

Route Map Display

Just got a 2555LMT to replace a Nuvi 1300T that died unexpectedly. It has a lot of features that I like, but have not found an easy way to see my current route. On the 1300, I just touched the green bar at the top and the turn by turn instructions had "Show Current Route" at the bottom. Will play with it this weekend to get familiar with it.

I love my Double Triple Nickel (2555) It has Lifetime maps AND Traffic. You can Add Applications (Apps) like Audible and have Books Read to you while you are Driving along the Road or Highway. (I have the Entire Bible both New and Old Testaments along with about 300 other Books). It also has the ecoRoute App with a Mileage Report to let you know how much Money a Route cost you. You can also Load your own Personal Pictures (Picture Viewer App) and See a Slideshow while Driving and a Language Guide which is has Bilingal Dictionaries in Five (5) different languages with Words and Common Phrases. It is a Super Great Dictionary. the Double Triple Nickel will Hold 1000 of your Name and Address Entries and as many Points of Interest as you Mini-SD Card has the Capacity to Save (I have a 16 GB Card to hold all my Audible Books and Vehicles and about 300,000 POI). You can choose from almost 200 different Vehicle Icons to Show on your Map. It also has a Where I've Been App to Record your Routes. It also has a Trip Planner (but I lost my Trip Planner Configuration Data when I did a Program Update) I also Purchased the City Explorer so I can Walk around my City (Phoenix, AZ) Other Apps include, but are not necessarily Limited to: World Clock, Alarm Clock, Last Spot where you Turned the Double Triple Nickle Device Off, a Calculator and Unit Converter. You can Purchase lots of Super Great Extras and you can Download your own Customized Points of Interest (POI) with Icons and Sounds. It also has an On Board Help App that can Answer Questions Searched by Keywords. YOU CAN EVEN MAKE AND RECORD YOUR OWN VOICE COMMAND LANGUAGE. I Love Hearing my Own Voice telling me to Turn Right and don't miss the Turn or Turn left and keep your Eye on the Road. Its Free and so are most of the Vehicles. You have to Purchase some Apps but they are well worth the few Bucks you will Shell out. I have not had any Problems (that I did not cause) and have managed to have any and all Issues Resolved fast. I Downloaded the Red Light Cameras and Set my Proximity Alerts and now when I approach a Red Light Camera, I get Alerted. My Device Sold for about $199 but I have seen them on Sale for about $169. I had Magellan for Years and now I think my Garmin nuvi 2555LMT is the Best GPS on the Market. I wold not want to Trade mine for anything but I just wish it had Bluetooth, so I could Play it over my Car Radio.

Route Map Display

To see where your Route will be taking you. Simply Click on the Green Bar at the Top, the same as your 1300, but you must be on a Route. If you Click the Upper Left Hand Corner of the Screen, while on a Route, you will get Turn by Turn. If these Instructions don,t work, try changing your Settings. I can see my Current Route if I Click on Top Green Bar in CENTER of Map

2555lmt

I've had my 2555 for almost a year now and I love it. It is my first gps unit and I like it for all the reasons stated above. So far it has been problem free and very accurate in the routes it gives.

I have a Nuvi 855 and a Nuvi 3790. Both are set for the highest detail and both show any cross streets as well as streets running parallel to the street I am on.
Complete with names.

Nuvi 2797LMT, DriveSmart 50 LMT-HD, Using Windows 10. DashCam A108C with GPS.

I found the Route Map

I went to turn by turn instructions (clicking on the green bar from the map), then clicked on the button with the 3 lines and it gives a map option so you can see your entire route.

Try this first:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6507

After you have this working, we can work on seeing if you'd like to add icons or custom audio alerts to your redlight camera and speed camera files.

I'm not sure how the cyclops data file is installed, but for the POI Factory Speed Camera and Redlight Camera files, you need to be an Active User here at the Factory to be able to download them--or pay a small fee to access the files before you gain your Active User windmill:

http://www.poi-factory.com/poifiles/us/red-light-cameras

After checking the faqs, come back if you have more questions.

And welcome to The Factory. There are a lot of folks here ready to help.

In some unit, primarily the Zumo series the unit will pair with another receiver, like the Bluetooth in your car so directions would be sent via Bluetooth to the car just as a cell phone. In the Zumos its mainnly used to pair with helmets.
