Unless you need additional features and the unit isn't broken, why replace it?
As your avatar shows a OTR tractor, why not look into one of the trucker models such as the dezl line? The 465 and the 560 have multistop routing which is a feature the 255 doesn't.
My 255W is still working fine. I was thinking about getting a newer unit but when I think about it, the 255W still does what I need it to. I do like the idea of a bigger screen though. Just don't know if it's worth it at this point.
The Garmin products page no longer shows the 255W. It appears current offerings include Nuvi 500 and 550 then it jumps to the 1100, 1200, 1300 etc series. The 2012 lineup will probably reflect even more changes.
If you're planning to replace your 255 visit the Garmin site then shop using the "Feature" selections. Choose all the features you use in a GPS and leave those you've no use for unchecked. The appropriate (or closest to) model will be shown as you add/subtract items.
I have a 255w and a 755t. The reason I upgraded was mainly for lane assist and junction view which helps in larger cities to get you in the correct lane instead of a " turn right at...". If these types of features do not appeal to you I would stay with the 255w as long as they offer map updates for it.
I am happy with my 255 and also have a 265. I find my maps are several years old and we have had major road construction in this area. so it keeps telling me you are not on a road, recalculating, etc. If I had lifetime updates I would not change. But rather than pay the $99 fee I think it is, I rather spend an extra $50 and put the 255 in the wifes glove compartment. She usually rides with me but in a pinch if she is off and gets lost at least it should still get her going in the correct direction. I had issues early on but anymore no issues. I think I had a bad firmware update at one point.
