GTM-20

Latelty I notice that when I plug in the GTM-20 cable sometimes I get the following message on the screen "This device is not supported " My Gps is updated and why I still get this messages from time to time. Also year ago garmin was telling me what update where avaiable before I download them now does not show me what does install on my gps.You know it really make me wonder all the money garmin users they spend on those unit and the updates including maps are really worth it? I have update 2 maps from 2010-11-12 and still when I drive on 2 road it tell me to make right or left turn on dead end road.

I saw that message as well with my GTM-20 and Nuvi 660. I found that if I do not put the 660 into the cradle until after the GTM-20 is pushed in - then no error messages. This also happened after leaving the GTM-20 on all night. I don't normally leave the GTM-20 powered up all night. I just pull it out far enough that the light goes off.

Just remember - GTM-20 powered up first, then put the GPS in the cradle (GPS on or off, shouldn't make a difference).

Routing - yes, Garmin's "improvements" have actually made the routing worse over the years. Instead of turning right, going 300 feet and then left and then left again after 40 ft. into my driveway, Garmin wants me to go straight for .18 mi., then turn right and go for .42 mi. and then turn right into the driveway. Around the block instead of the shortest way. Go figure! And yes, I have tried various settings (Shortest, Fastest, etc.).
