New speed cameras activated in D.C.

From WTOP.com: "Police have flipped the switch on 19 new speed cameras in the District. The cameras have been placed on sites where a high number of crashes and calls for police service have occurred. A 30-day warning period is currently in effect for the cameras. Police will issue violations starting Oct. 1."

DC does feels like a prison but the roads in VA is solitary confinement.

Option to revert

I downloaded the most recent poi rlc files today and decided I would rather retain the updates of August 24, 2011. Would I be able to revert, or am I stuck with the latest download of 9/7 ?

I thought of using windows system restore to a previous restore point (usually a few days back) then transferring the then - current rlc's of aug 24 (the last time I updated), from desktop poiloader to my nuvi.

You're going to have to ask POI admin to mail the previous RLC file to you, if it's available. Don't use system restore because it only restores critical system files and registry settings. It won't restore user files.

Thanks

Ok thanks, I'll give that a try.

questions

@Makinja, I am curious why you want to revert? Are the newest files in error? If so, seems like we should be correcting the files themselves.

@Box Car: are you able to visually verify the nature of the cameras? Or do you have some other source for this kind of information (i.e., determining if fixed or mobile)? Would love to know of resources that can provide such info. A government website perhaps?

And of course @baumback: thanks!

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

The news reports on the local stations stated the new cameras were a mix of fixed and mobile. JD4x4 provided the link to the MPD web site which lists the fixed and mobile locations.

Added to the file

I've added the fixed location speed cameras to the file, and they're included in today's update.

Thanks to nuvinooby for doing the legwork on this.
