I checked your first link, and it doesn't bring up an article on the subject. I found another link that does work, and it looks like there will be more red light cameras in Hoffman Estates (as soon as the state approves them).
What would really be beneficial, is if they would time the lights so the last 4 or 5 before I90, wouldn't make you stop at each one.
