Nuvi 360 external speaker

Would be an excellent idea......esp. for hard of hearing.

It is my undrstanding that the Nuvi 360 does not accommodate an external speaker, but it does allow for an external microphone or antenna.

You should be able to plug portable speakers right into the headphone (3.5mm) jack. There are lots of options marketed for iPods and the like.

An amplified computer speaker set works good with the nuvi 350 in a motorhome. Compared to the GPS internal speaker or a FM modulator, the sound quality is super (depending on the quality of the speaker set).

Cons: Size may prohibit use in a car; more cables to route; need power cord to run the speaker amp (some use batteries).

I've found that the volume of a speaker connected directly to the nuvi 350's headphone jack is not nearly loud enough (i.e. without an amp).

I was hoping for an unpowered kind of setup. Maybe hacking a 2610 cable would work.

I connected an external 8ohm speaker to my Nüvi 310 (presumably identical to the 360, since it shares a manual). It greatly improved the audio quality but did nothing for the volume.
