Rest Area File

Prior to leaving on a 1500 mile trip with our RV, I updated my Rest Area POI. Prior to doing this, I was receiving a notification of a Rest Area two miles out. After downloading the updated version I received no alerts. When I went to "Extras" the Rest Area POI file was there and if I went to a specific RA, it did show that the POI did have an alert setting.

What did I do wrong?

When you downloaded the new

When you downloaded the new file it has a 2 letter version identification. Did you keep that 2 letter version or name the file the same as the previously compiled file?

I usually run POILoader in manual mode and set it to 10560 foot distance alert. If the names of the 3 files (csv, bmp & wav) are exactly the same all should work fine.

I name mine: Rest Area

I name mine: Rest Area TourGuide

I load manually and set the distance at 10,560 feet (a 2 mile diameter).

I also have the wave (.wav) voice alert and the bitmap (.bmp) image named with the exact same prefix (Rest Area TourGuide).

Like many others I load the file into EPE, add the distance and then save as a GPX. I then run POI Loader in Auto with the distance as part of the file.

Bear nailed it. The new rest area file has a different file name. Either edit your wav & bmp file names to match, or edit the rest area file name.

If you have several files with proximity distances, the .gpx technique saves time and all it really requires is Extra POI Editor (EPE).

Get EPE at http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor#toc5
