Map Updates for Nuvi 1450 LMT

I purchased a Garmin 1450 LMT and I am not sure how to check for new maps. Does this happen through the Webupdate program that updates the firmware or is there another program I need to get??

Thank you, I am a GPS newbie.

Go to https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/login.htm?service=https%3A%2F... and sign in to check for latest maps.Click on manage maps.

The lastest mapping version is 2012.10

If you can wait...

rumor has it that the new map is coming next week. So, if you try to play with the map update now, you will have to do it again real soon.

I've got to warn you

I own a number of Garmins ... including a 1450LMT ... It's a great unit ... but I've got to warn you ... there will not be enough storage memory to add the "full" North American City Navigator Map Update.

You have to select a portion of the update ... say just Canada ... or Just the United States.

Garmin, in it's infinite wisdom, also installs a "truncated" version of the Junction View file on 14XX series GPS's ... not the complete file.

Don't get me wrong ... your 1450 is a great unit and will give you years of service.

But you should know from the get-go that you won't be able to install the entire map update.

I'd register it now

Even if you choose to delay updating you probably should register the 1450 promptly with Garmin through the Garmin website. I found that registering mine was actually easier w/Firefox than with MSIExplorer so YMMV.

So what does ... your mileage may very .. have to do with registering your GPS with one program or another in the sentence below?

But, I did state I've had no experience with IE for quite a while.
