Could someone tell me how the camera alerts appear on my unit? (I have a 765T and want to purchase a 1695) My Garmin trial only sounds a chime and places a tiny message on the screen. What does this app announce verbally(if at all), what message appears on the screen, and does it give a precise location? (ie 5th and vine streets)

If you set it up properly using a voice alert you will get the alert (eg: red light camera ahead) and a message on the screen. The red light files are set up to automatically give the alert 1/4 mile in advance. They are also very accurate because they are checked and verified by members and Miss Poi.
Note that if you do not use a voice message you will get the bong sound only.
If I recall correctly the message will contain the location of the camera.
Welcome to the poi-factory. When you require more info we will be glad to help.
Active members get the red light files free.

The difference is that the 765T can play mp3 audio and the 1695 can not and therefore requires wav audio and the sox.exe file.

Thanks. I'm new at this/ Is there any documentation in this site that I can print out on how to do a voice alert?
Ron
The info is in the links in previous post.

I'm not sure which previous links you are talking about.

He's referrring to...
I'm not sure which previous links you are talking about.
...the links provided in my earlier reply to you and to the links offering how to become an active member to obtain the POI Factory's Redlight and Speed POI files in pwohlrab's reply.
This link (which you may or may not be able to view until you're an active member) offers info on The Factory's two files in question:

FIRST:
Welcome to the site.
Since you are new you may want to do a couple of the Beginner Exercises. To make it easy, when you click on the first link below, hold down the "Cntl" key as you left-click. That will open a new "Tab" in your browser in the "Tab" bar. Click on that 'Tab" to do the first exercise - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.
The first link makes sure settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.

This next link helps you get a backup by attaching your GPS to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup)

Now to directly answer your question
Set up a folder on your PC and call it something like Garmin Tips.
Then follow the link to charlesd45's FAQ (the one ending in 25730) that CraigW gave you above. Here are CraigW's linkk again:

If you are using the trick that lets you open a new window, then you still can get back here by returning to this tab.
What I do when I find a FAQ I like is to "cut and paste" it into my Garmin Tips folder by holding down my shift key and - while holding down my left mouse key - highlight all of the FAQ (including the title and all the links). I then do a "CNTL - C" combination to put the FAQ on the windows clipboard. I then open up MS Word (but any good word processing software will do) and do a "CNTL - V" combination to paste the FAQ into Word.
Now I can name it anything I want that will be easy to find again. I could also merge into the document other tips on the same subject that covered, say, different aspects of the procedure. Save the document but before you exit, print the document.
Now you have instructions to follow off line if you desire
Once again - Welcome.

You also might want to check out the TomTom 2535m Live,I have a 1695 about 80% happy with it.

I changed my mind on the 1695 (price!) and instead bought a Magellan Roadmate 3065.
