Pause That MP3; For When I Return...

Has anyone else noticed???
I was playing MP3's, I paused the player to turn off the unit. Some time passed (10+ hours), I turned on the unit and went to the MP3 player. A different song was paused... Did my unit continue to play "silently" while turned off? This seems to occur every time I pause the music to turn off my device. I cannot seem to pick up at the point of when I shut the unit off.
Any thoughts?

why you have to pause the music just sat off the unit and will continue the same song when you tern it on next time
Just turn it off...

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried just turning off the unit; that too did not work. When I returned, a different song was loaded ready to play.
