Garmin - Older Features Are Back

I just thought that I would report out that when I received my nuvi 3760lmt that the upcoming street names are back when not navigating to a point and that the favorite icons show up on the map. These are what I missed the most when I let my 760 go.

As far as the internal memory it has 4GB with half of it used, before stripping out any unused voices, keyboard and help files.

It was reported on another thread that the 3790 has 8GB of internal memory.

All in all I am very pleased with this unit's performance and more so that some of the older favorite features have migrated back into the 3700 series on top of the other improved feature adds.

Thanks for passing along that info. I am glad they brought the street names back!, it is really useful if you don't have an exact address.

more new old features

maybe they will add the fm transmitter and mp3 player back

I was looking at that line.

I have a 760 that I like but never seen any others that I liked as well. The lane assist would be a nice addition.

Old Features

I wonder which other units have that feature back ?

If the 3760 has it, does the 3790 ?

The upcoming street is a feature I really missed when they started dumbing down their units.

I hope they will bring back the capability to display much greater map detail with more "zoom" levels.

My 3790LMT has it -- when not in navigation mode.

When in navigation mode and zoomed in, I can easily read the street names as they appear on the map -- in most cases.

Yay for returned features

Glad to hear it's back to full functionality for you. I always like when new features are added, but when things are taken away like that, I am very reluctant to upgrade. I don't know why older functionality should pretty much ever be unavailable as at least a legacy setting disabled by default.

Good news

I missed the upcoming street names also.

I, too, wonder which units now have the feature.
Anyone know which ones have it, besides the two mentioned?

Now that's the way!

Now that's the way!

More available microcontroller resources

The enhanced graphics does make a difference. It may be that the updated micro is less strapped for resources and they can afford to enable some of these features again. I also like the smoother screen refresh on the maps when driving.

.

Most of the new product has the upcoming street names back.

Now, if they'd just give me back the 5 level screen/street detail I'd be happier.
