Assessment of Red Light Cameras Orlando Area

The Orlando Sentinel had a front page assessment of red light cameras, how they work, are administered and the costs. What is not shown on line is a graph showing the a list of intersections with the most active cameras (22 on the list out of a total of 40 cameras), and the tickets per day per intersection ranging from a high of 32 tickets at the intersection of Sheeler Ave and Orange blossom Trail in Apopka to a low of .9 tickets per day at the intersection of Westmoreland Dr and South Street, Orlando. A quick adding of the number tickets per day issued in the Orlando area from the listed intersections showed that there are about 205 tickets per day just in the Orlando area. What was more disturbing was how the issuance of the tickets was administered; each jurisdiction had different standards. Apopka was the most strict.

Good Info

Thanks for the info. I live and drive in Central Florida all the time.

I am not surprised that the

I am not surprised that the legislature wound up allowing the measure banning the cameras to expire. Fl. does this all the time. Will have to add Fl. to the list of states that should have "peoples republic of" prefix to it. That is ludicrous nearly doubling the fine if you protest it and lose. Shame on Florida, obviously they don't mind scaring away some tourists for the boast of having draconian law standards.
