I'd like to shut off the ads on my 3790T

When I got my 3790 there was an icon to push for money saving offers. I was a beginner with the device trying out all the options. So now I can't figure out how to turn them off. They're for Best Western, Shell gasoline (enriched with nitrogen!), Red Lobster and I think The Olive Garden.

If you actually press on the ad, you get a search results screen of nearest locations.

I can't figure out how to turn these off.

Ads

You can't turn the ads off. That is what you get with the free traffic. To get rid of the ads you can purchase the premium service or turn the traffic off.

.

Yep. Unplug the traffic receiver is the quickest option.

Otherwise, just ignore them.

As others have said you have

As others have said you have to purchase the service or just ignore them. After a while, you don't even notice them.

I don't notice them.

I don't notice them.

Good to know

Thanks. Now I can stop compulsively looking for how to shut them off. I like the traffic as I travel frequently on roads with traffic. I'll have to look into the premium to see if it provides additional function. If not, I'll learn to ignore them.

1490T Fluke

I once had a 1490T that never displayed ads. It was a refurb, and I was thinking the traffic receiver was once registered for the premium service, or there was some firmware fluke. My current unit displays ads, and I've just learned to ignore them. They only appear when the car is stopped, so I really don't mind.

I do a lot of traveling and really don't even notice the ads.Have found many areas with no coverage.Keep in mind if you get Clear Channel. You will not get the ads but when in area of Free FM traffic you will still get them.Lot of users have thought once they get clear channel they would not get the ads.Only partially true if you already have Free FM Traffic..

If the user could touch an

If the user could touch an OK button and then the advertisement will disappear - then it would not be so bad - as long as one gets at least a few minutes before the next advertisement.

Just got mine a week ago and have not had any ads pop up yet. From what i have seen on the site they are small and usually only pop up when you are stopped

The ads aren't too intrusive

The ads aren't too intrusive on my 1690. After the 2 years free traffic, the renewal is $60/year. The ads don't bother me if it were between cheap renewals or more expensive renewals. The ads disappear as soon as you start moving, so I don't mind.
