People, remember to clear your log before doing a map or software update (hope that is enough)

Not much of a choice . . .

I think it's the "submit anonymous data" option that you have to disable. If everyone disables that option, though, then TomTom's IQ Routes will become useless as the IQ Routes feature relies upon user-submitted data to determine the fastest route.

More about IQ Routes here: http://www.tomtom.com/page/iq-routes

I see...

"Millions of TomTom users worldwide voluntarily provide us with anonymous historical speed-data from each of their journeys every time they connect their device to TomTom HOME . "

If people disable the reporting then the "feature" would be useless. They are probably going to lose that "capability" if enough users get P.O.d at the sharing with the cops (specially if they get a ticket)

Here is a screwup from a company in the name of profit. I'm not sorry for them if people stop reporting "anonymously".

More on Slashdot

.

You mean more on cnet, since the slashdot is just a pointer.

wiretapping

isn't this a bit like spying on us - or illegal wire taps? I mean really, combine this with what apple and google are doing - well, not that we really know what they are doing, only that they are compiling lots and lots of information on us and are evil enough to try to deny facts that are already known. What are they up to and why are they lying about it?

Actually slashdot is both a pointer to another article (occasionally more than one), but also a lot of intelligent discussion on the topic too, well worth reading if you have an interest.
