"Campgrounds" aren't always campgrounds.

Having recently downloaded the POI file "Oregon Campgrounds (434)" I find the majority of the listed sites are RV parks—not campgrounds. There is a difference. Try boondocking in a RV park. These categories should be separated into two files.
One of the best sources for camping is FreeCampgrounds.com. Find Campsites for $10 or less. Members have been adding GPS coordinates though most don't have them.
Other good sources are the BLM, National Forest Service, State Parks, and the Army Corps of Engineers.
Par for the course
Most POI files are dangerously close to being uselessly bloated. My favorite shooting star was the coffee house POI. At this point it seems that only a handful of chainstore coffee houses are excluded.

The definition of camping varies widely. It depends on who you ask. If a poi is built by someone who believes camping is backpacking in to a location and living off the land you will get one type of file. If the creator believes camping is just just being outside away from "home" you will get another file. This makes the creation of files difficult.
