Sun and Moon Rise/Set Tool For Auto Nuvi Units

This may be a strange question, but my hand held Garmin Colorado 400c has a Sun and Moon rise/set tool which comes in very handy and is used for my job all the time. My Garmin Nuvi unit doesn't seem to have this function. Is there a newer Garmin Nuvi unit that has this function or is there a way to load it into to my Garmin Nuvi?

I could have used this yesterday while photographing and shooting video of a sunrise hot air balloon launch at the Sun 'n Fun air show and I had left my hand held in my fishing tackle bag back at the house.

I'm hoping some of you Garmin tech heads may have an answer.

All of them

All of the new nuvis apparently calculate local sunrise/set as the units can shift over from daylight to night time background. I like the way my 1490T also ramps down brightness afer sunset and ramps it back up as sunrise gets closer.

I'll guess some current unit offers a way to display the information, but I'm not aware of any automotive unit that does this.

Sunrise Sunset

What nuvi model do you have? Most nuvis have it I thought.

Try going to your map screen,

tap on the SPEED window or what ever window is on the other side of the screen.

See if the Sunrise / Sunset choices are there.

Nope

On the 1490T if you tap the speed field on the map screen you go to a summary field that shows an analog speedometer, how many miles since the summary was reset, fuel cost, bearing, elevation and a second page with more about your speeds, moving and stopped time. If instead you press and hold the upper left corner over the satellite signal strength icon on the home page, it will show a plot of the sky. In addition to the satellites it also shows a Sun and Moon symbol.

other than this I have found no way to display a readout of sunrise/set times.

Thanks for the replies

Thanks for the replies, but it appears my model Garmin (Nuvi 855) does not have this function. I tried all of the above and those options don't apply.

Maybe another model is in order. Any suggestions?

Nice function

That is a function that I wish I had on my Nuvi 765t.

Sun and Moon Set Tool Very Handy

BSP--I'm a staff photographer/videographer for the New York Times Regional Newspaper Company. I take photos all the time right a the crack of sunrise for various stories. I also did photos a couple of weeks ago during the Supermoon rise.

The Sun and Moon Rise/Set tool comes in quite handy on my handheld. I wish my Nuvi had it as well.

Sun and Moon

My 660 has the Sun and Moon locations on the signal strength screen.

Try pressing on the signal strength bars for a few seconds and then releasing. Satellite locations and the Sun and Moon are displayed.

But, alas, no times.
