Mapsource Track highlight no more

Mapsource users,

Did anyone else notice that the track highlight color is no longer yellow when you select a track? My previous version did highlight the selected track in yellow so it was easily visible amongst all the other tracks. The latest version has the selected track highlight color the same as the other track colors which makes it very hard to see the track.

I have emailed back and forth with GARMIN but their first level support staff don't seem to understand the problem ... YET!

Try this

In Mapsource with one track selected, try this:

Click Edit, then Track Properties... Then click the Color and change it to what you want among the list of colors, then click OK.

This also can be done (Windows PCs) by right-clicking the track you wish to highlight in the left-side Tracks window, clicking Track Properties..., then changing the color.

From what I see, with Mapsource v6.16.3, the default setting for the tracks is Transparent and you'll want to choose a different color. For me without changing the color, I see all tracks displayed in dark gray and the active track in black. But I can select from among many colors to change the active track color.

My colors are the same as yours

ass that is the new default. On my screen 17" Gateway flat screen it very difficult to see the difference.

Double click on any track and go into the track's waypoints window, check on the "Center map on selected item(s)" checkbox and now select 1,2 or multiple waypoints. The selected waypoints are by default visible in yellow on your screen and are easily visible from the others. This is the color the selected tracks use to be in the previous version of Mapsource. Even the Mapsource help file still says the track should be highlighted in yellow when selected.

I know I can change the color of each and every track but that is not what I'm looking for. I use the tracks for different things and I want to be able to quickly select and see the different tracks on the screen as I use to.

There is no way to change the default selected track color from black to yellow that I know of. I'm starting to think I'm the only person who either uses the Mapsource/Tracks window or at least has noticed the color change.

Any thoghts are appreciated.

Yes, I see where the Help file states highlighted tracks will be yellow. I also see as do you that the current Mapsource does not yellow the highlighted track. I also have not been able to find a way to change the default color for a highlighted track from Transparent to something else. I'm sorry to be so agreeable with you today wink Unless someone can figure it out, highlighted tracks will be a darker shade than unhighlighted tracks but to make them a brighter more obvious color, you'll need to manually change them.

I will say that on my LCD screen, the black highlighted track is quite distinct from the unselected gray tracks. Maybe there's a difference between the brightness or contrast settings of our monitors making it harder to distinguish the tracks on your monitor. But if you have photos displaying properly on your monitor now, I'd hate to suggest tinkering with your monitor's settings.

Track color

I think GARMIN programmers must have missed a program setting or something when compiling this last version so the program defaults to black. Anyway, the biggest problem is still getting GARMIN to acknowledge it. They've basically ignored it in their replies to the last 3 emails I've sent them. This last email I just sent only has 1 problem in it, this selected track highlight color problem. Lets see what they say now.
