nuvi 1490LMT volume adjustment...

I bought the 1490LMT for my brother... he really likes the convenience of the bluetooth, but he's having trouble with the volume adjustment... he says that if the volume is up over 80%, the navigating voice distorts... at the same time the bluetooth is not loud enough... I know my nuvi 295W has a balance control for navigation and music player... does the 1490LMT have any kind of balance control between navigation and bluetooth...? I downloaded the manual, but could find nothing other than the 'master volume' adjustment...

thanks...

Did you try a TTS throat lozenge?

Download TurboCCC's TTS Editor. You can not only play with the TTS phrases but adjust both the playback speed and volume level of the selected voice. The selected voice volume can be lowered allowing both Bluetooth and the voice volume to be increased using the Nuvi controls.

Somewhat off topic, but is there a way to have POI voice alerts (think RLC) but NOT navigation directions? I end up "stopping" the "where to" route when I don't want to hear frequent "turn at ..." voice prompts. The 1490 doesn't seem to have separate settings for navigation and POI. Annoying for a unit that costs as much as it does.

No, there is no way to have one, and not the other. This option has never been in any nuvi, AFAIK.

Might be a "small" feature, but would be immensely useful.
