Misleading POI Dates

I'm not sure if this has been discussed but if it has please let me apologize for bringing it up.

There appears to be a problem in the "My Favorite Files" section. I've noticed that the "Updated" date for some of the files don't correspond with the actual date the POI file has been updated. The date corresponds with when an icon or a sound file (or something else) has be uploaded for that particular POI file. Since the actual POI file has not changed (the uploaded files are not part of the POI file) I think the "Updated" date should continue to be when the POI file was actually done.

The only reason I noticed this is because when I downloaded the POI files I added the "Last updated" date to the end of the file name. I then noticed that the "Last updated" date of some files didn't match the "Updated" date in "My Favorite Files"

Maybe a third column called "Additional Files" or something like that could be added to the "My Favorite Files" section to show when files that compliment the POI file are added or updated leaving the true POI date intact.

I know, I know, look at the new guy trying to take over. wink

Ouch

I am a bit surprised that no one has replied to this. If, by posing what I did, I've "stepped on anyone's toes" I am really sorry.

IMHO

I don't think you stepped on anyone's toes. I just don't think the problem is large enough, at least as far as I'm concerned, to warrant any discussion. IIWII - It is what it is. I'm just thankfule there is a list I can look at which tells me I need to investigate further.

You've made a valid point. I too am glad there is a list but it seems for the new people here it could be, at first, a bit confusing.

dates vs "new" flag

Well, my toes have been so numb ever since that infamous butt kicking contest at that Buckro Beach bar back in ’56 that I seldom feel them being stepped on. smile

But in this case I never noticed this thread until now.

IMO there is no need to try to track the files by their date and I would not take the trouble to rename the files downloaded to include a date.

I use poisync (available here) to update my files. I just watch “My Favorite Files” here and ,when one or more are showing “New”, I double click one icon on my computer and download all my files again without sorting out which ones need it or not. It only takes a couple of minutes –far shorter time than manually looking over all the dates.

Toes and POI Files

What you have said makes sense. I do look in "My Favorite Files" list and get those I need.

Btw...sorry to hear about your toes. crying

Dates

I have brought this up once before. So do not feel like a loner.

If you do an EDIT -> ADD NEW LOCATION, this will update the date of the file. The only thing is you can only do one at a time. If I download a batch then the file does not seem to be updated with a new date.

I am also new here so I might just be blowing smoke. I have been known for doing that. smile

Thanks. I'm glad to know I was not alone. Also thanks for the information.

Actually I was speaking metaphorically. smile

A sailor had called an airman a “bus driver” and after all the “kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer” there was a lot more things numb than toes. And it had spread to a lot more than the original two.

The physical numbness is long gone but the lesson is still recalled. Basically: don’t sweat the small stuff and it is mostly small stuff. That is the numbness to toe stepping that remains.

I was just having fun. I thought that your comment was probably a metaphor but I didn't the reason you said it, or what you meant by it.
