Two Questions.

Hi,

My 1st question is:

how accurate is the speed which shows on face of Garmin c340?

2nd question:

Why would I have to load Garmin c34o software again as my computer would not recognize gps when connected by the usb cable? I have had no problem since first loading software a couple of months ago.

Appreciate any insight to my questions.

Thanks,

Alan

Several people on the board here have found it to be extremely accurate. Keep in mind that there can be a delay of a few seconds and it will show your last speed until it rechecks the satellites. That is why you can be at a complete stop for a couple of seconds before it shows zero speed.

That happens on my PC if I plug the GPS into a different USB port. It seems that windows XP doesn't recognize the same device if it is plugged into a different port. I try to always plug it into the same port, then I don't have that problem.

Speed Accuracy

According to the specs for the c340 the velocity accuracy in both regular and WAAS mode is 0.05 meters/second. That works out to 0.118 miles per hour.

Cruise Control

Once I set the cruise control, it is very accurate. I have even shot myself with radar to confirm.
