Speed Cameras in CA, IL, NY

For the first time I looked inside the Speed Camera CSV file. I was surprised that there were no SPEED camera locations in CA, IL, or NY. Do these states (which have some of the highest use of enforcement cameras) not use Speed cameras or is there another explanation?

Deleted. The location map may be mis-leading.It has combination of redlight and speed cameras.Open the speed cameras in mapsource.A quick search didn't show any for those areas.

Speed Cameras in New York

At this time there are no speed cameras in New York. However, New York City Mayor Bloomberg is floating a proposal with the state legislature to get them approved for NYC as a method of raising revenue. They have been doing very well with RLC's so speed cameras are the next logical step.

NYC Cameras

Also the idea of tolls to reduce congestion plus revenue is also rearing its ugly head.

New York State

The New York State legislature has authorized red light cameras in certain cities or counties, but no speed cameras anywhere in the state.

You drive too slow on the Long Island Expressway and certain other roads (under 40MPH minimum ) and THEY CAN ticket you. Of course with traffic so bad around here its not like you can go faster than 40MPH most of the time.

Better than taxes

Without a doubt cameras are for more money in the politicians pockets. Though I think cameras beat raising my bloody taxes. I have a choice as to whether or not I blow a red light or drive to stinkin fast. Not so much of a choice when it comes to paying taxes.

.

Isn't it all about the children?

BTW, I'd like to see a higher speed limit for HOV lanes, as an incentive to use them. And by golly, DO ticket for going to slow -- in the HOV lanes!
