hope you dont mind? could you test this?

I know there is a forum on this subject but I'm not sure how much attention it gets. But was just wanting someone to test out a vehicle I made. Well it's not a vehicle It's Garfield the cat. Yeah I'm a die hard Garfield fan lol. I'm doing my best to patiently await the arrival of my nuvi 295w and I tried reading ARGGHHHH'S instructions on how to create these things but It's a little sketchy for me. So I gave it a go with what I think needed to be done. Also if you have the time and are able a screen of it in action would be pretty cool, but not neccesary =) (if it works of course)

here is the download link for it.

P.S. if this is a post that takes up room in the wrong area or is deemed unacceptable do to there already being a thread on this please let me know and I'll delete the post if I can or a mod can do it for me. Thanks everyone.

Troy

does not work in my 255w

In the preview on the vehicle selection screen on my 255w I can see a square with flashing colors in it but it does not show on my map when I select it.

Does not look anything like Garfield.

thanks, working on the

thanks, working on the kinks. think i know what i did wrong.

There's a How To page there

A great guy for creating those SRF files would be Tony, his wbesite is http://www.vehiclesforgarminnuvi.com and he lists a PDF that explains how he proceeds.

You might find the solution to your bug there ? And once your Garfield is ready, do let us know - Lasagnaaaaaa !!!

Thanks spera I had found

Thanks spera I had found that site and downloaded the pdf for it but upon reading it the only source it gave for finding models to work with was this site

sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse

unfortunetlely it doesn't appear that they have a 3d model of garfield that may work? I was hoping to make something animated. I will have my other project up a little later for anyone that still wants to try it out for me just to see if i'm on the right track. But if I find other sites with usable 3d models like the website source listed above you can bet I will be looking for Garfield. Not sure why I'm fascinated with him still while bein 29 lol.

Ok, Here is the final

Ok, Here is the final attempt. At least until I receive my unit so I can stop bugging others.

http://www.4shared.com/file/SamquoYD/garfieldrun.html

hope it looks half way decent lol. Then again I would be happy just to know I was on a right track somewhere.

Darn, it ain't working yet

Looks very weird on my 205T, I'm afraid you need a bit more work on this one.

And don't EVER be ashamed of liking stuff like Garfield, at your age. In my view, it's much better / safer than what some other "young'uns" enjoy nowadays, and if you manage to prepare a decent lasagna, you're on your way to some fame !

Thanks spera. Looks like

Thanks spera. Looks like I'll be waiting til I get my GPS from walmart when it finally arrives through the ship to store option. Then maybe I can play around with that stuff a little more. I just wonder if maybe it isn't working because it is trying to view my image from the top side which would make it as thin as a piece of paper lol. I had been trying to use an image of garfield that was orig an animated gif image that had been spliced into frames and had the background removed and put into the specified image etc etc etc. Maybe if someone wants to do it for me I could put a link up to the image and they could tell me if what I was trying to do was even possible. Who knows, cuz I sure don't lol. But again thanks for testing it out for me.

great site

thanks for this link.... great site for vehicles.

Garmin Nuvi 3760T and Mac Guy!

This may help.

Have a look at this site, I think this will help proof your vehicle file: http://techmods.net/nuvi/ and, let you see how the .srf is laid out.

Not sure I understand how to use it to proof view it? Because this is the site I used to convert my png file to the srf. But now that I think about it I may be able to take another vehicle and use the convert to png loader to see if I can get a better idea of how to place the images in the png and then reconvert it back to srf.

K, update to the last post

K, update to the last post of mine. This may be a little out of my league cuz when I loaded a vehicle from garmins site it had multiple images from all angles of the car on a clear background. I've gotten the clear background I just can't figure out how to place the images I want on there since it isn't a 3d model but rather just a spliced gif image with cleared out backgrounds that I resize to fit the 2880x150 or 2881x160 so this may be something I'll never be able to figure out this particular way but if anyone is up for it i'm trying to turn the following images into a vehicle

http://sdb.drshnaps.com/objects/7/1972/Sprite/Garfield9Lives...

the running one with the die one added at the end.
like i said i don't even know if it's possible it's just what I've been trying to do since I couldn't find a 3d model of garfield lol.
