It is only as annoying as you let it be. smile

.

You can't get rid of the warning screen but you can modify the language if you so desire http://www.poi-factory.com/node/19409

turboccc GUpdateMod program

Here's the link to the program http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/GUpdateMod

"Revision History

Changes from v1.02 to v1.10

•Added a tab to edit the legal warning at power-up. You can edit it only after opening an original GUPDATE.GCD. Otherwise you cannot if the file was alreay modified."

No Version 1.10

Unless I am missing something, you can only download v.1.02

You can ask Turbo by sending him a message http://www.poi-factory.com/user/105346/contact

By changing or eliminating whats written in this screen won't help nor hinder the boot time.

If you don't feel like pressing 'Accept'

It should go away on its own after a bit. At least it does on my 1490

Warning Screen

All the Nuvis show this warning when they boot up. It only takes a second and disappears as soon as you press 'Agree'.

Legality Issue For Garmin?

I wonder if the warning is there for potential liablity issues on Garmin's part with regards to someone getting injured, i.e., auto acident while "operating" the GPSr.

Plus it gives you something to read while the unit is booting up wink

OK.....so where the heck am I?

@ GadgetGuy2008

I took my British English gtt file and opened it with notepad instead of wordpad (my mistake I misread).

I made the changes and saved the file. Now all the text files in that folder including the British English gtt "seemed" to have changed format.

Explanation : Before having opened the text file with notepad all the different language text files inside looked similar to the voice file (programs that you can't double click to open).

After having opened the British English file with notepad every different language text file has changed so it automatically opens with notepad.

I'm just wondering if the same happened on your end when you modified the text and if I enter the file back into my unit it will work accordingly ?

The file is still a gtt except it's appearance has changed since having opened it with notepad.

Your files should be OK

The changes in appearance is only because those files having the .gtt extension are now associated with the Notepad program on your computer. Before you opened that first file, your computer didn't know which program to use therefore they were greyed-out. Now your computer knows to open with notepad, they are in black.

As for your files, they should be OK. If you can edit them with Wordpad then I think Notepad would work also. Someone else on this site can perhaps verify that.
