Nuvi 255WT traffic CLA need to be powered?????

Question: Does the traffic antenna on the 255WT (which is part of the cigarette lighter power adapter) need to be powered (plugged in to power) to work? or can you just connect it to the GPS and leave the end dangling?

I'm sure its not good for the battery to ALWAYS charge....?

Keep it powered.

There is no harm in keeping the nuvi on the charger. The nuvi circuitry has over-charge protection and the Li-ion battery will not be damaged or have its life shortened significantly by keeping your nuvi powered.

I might note that both my 755T and 855 WILL power the GTM-20 traffic receiver without plugging it into the 12V power source, although the battery drain rate on the nuvi battery would make it impractical to use it that way.

The 2x5 series uses the GTM-25 receiver, so I will defer to Charlesd45's expertise on that device, and assume that the nuvi 255WT cannot power that receiver.
