I am looking at Garmin GPS 2360LMT. For the individuals that are using one. I need to know how you like the VR on it. I have an 855 with VR and I have attach a mike to it, elimated road noise, and don't have to shout to give it commands. Do you have to shout to give the 2360LMT voice command.
2360LMT Voice Recognition...?
Sorry... No one has been able to test the 2360LMT Voice Recognition yet... The unit has NOT been released by Garmin. Originally Garmin said the unit (on their 2360LMT webpage) would be released 4Q10, then changed it to 1Q11, and finally removed all references to a release date. There have been rumors on other websites that the unit would be released in mid-January 2011 (a couple of weeks from now) but Garmin is not giving a specific date (I know, I’ve spoken to them a couple of times regarding the release date of this unit).
I have a 3790LMT and am on the waiting list for a 2360LMT. Getting back to Voice Recognition, I suspect the 2360LMT will be similar to the 3790LMT. The 3790LMT is adequate but not perfect. It can depend on noise levels inside the vehicle, but I’ve had problems getting ‘her’ to recognize me while sitting at a stop light without any other distractions.
I’m an early adopter of Garmin units and have had several since 1999—GPS ColorMap, 2610, 760, 770, Dakota 20, and now this 3790LMT and have traveled with them throughout the Unites States, Canada, Europe, Hong Kong, and China (the Chinese maps are NOT accurate!). Garmin continues to improve and innovate. The early units required propriety map cards (very expensive) and one even had a remote control. They’ve gone from propriety power connections to universal USB. They drop what doesn’t work and find stuff that does. My point is; while Voice Recognition may not be perfect right now, they’ll get it right on future models. You shouldn’t buy the 2630LMT solely for its Voice Recognition, there are other features that make this unit worth having. If you wait for everything to work perfectly you’ll be missing-out on everything else that works flawlessly.
One last thing; as far as I’m concerned, a Powered Cradle is more important than Voice Recognition. It’s such a pain-in-the-ass to remove-and-install a unit that’s not in a Powered Cradle. I know it seems trivial, but the Powered Cradle makes the difference between buying the 2360LMT and not buying it. When I spoke to Garmin, they said it will have the Powered Cradle. If it arrives without one—I’ll send it back! Here’s wishing you a Happy New Year… Spaz

news flash
You may be interested in knowing that they have dropped the price of the 2360LMT $50 to about $250 even though it has not been released yet.
Also, they have announced the 2460LMT ( & other 2400 series) which is almost identical to the 2360LMT except the screen is a bit wider....however total resolution is exactly the same number of pixels.
Also the 2460 is not advertised as having the 3-axial compass, but until we actually see the 2360LMT we will not know if this makes a big difference or not. (e.g. if well integrated it will mean that compass orientation will be achieved without changing GPS position, and if not, it will only mean screen 90 degree rotation...oh yea...the 2460LMT doesn't seem to have this either).
Ads on 2360LMT
Thinking about getting a 2360LMT and see some reviews that talk about the traffic sponsored ads - they mention the ads pop up in the middle of the screen during navigation - is that the case?
I have a 765T now and I only see adds when I stop and they only appear in the upper portion of the screen. Did Garmin change the way the ads appear now?
