Does Nuvi 1490T have a built in altimeter?

I was used to my 76csx with a built in altimeter. I have looked at the manual for the Nuvi 1490T and in doesn't mention one. Does this mean that it doesn't have one?

Not in road navigators

Generally the road navigation units, such as Nuvi, do not have sensors such as barometric altimeters or magnetic compasses. It can still calculate altitude from GPS data, though.

Yes it has one

But it is not barometric. When displaying greater information on the map you can choose a number of items to display. One of them is "altitude".

Altitude info on the 1490 will be solely from GPS. No onboard altimeter.

Nuvi altitude display

How do I get the Nuvi 1490 to display altitude?

It's one of the 4 selectable fields on the right side of the screen when you are navigating a route. It can also be displayed when you're not navigating. IIRC you have to go into settings and select it there.
