I have seen a few units that display a banner at top that alerts you I have installed speed and red light and all that works fine. I only get a small gry marking on screen that alerts Is there something I'm not entering to get this. The unit was purchased in June 2010 Thanks

how have you uploaded them to GPS?
I use POI-Loader and use Express settings (MPH/feet) and added a BMP icon file and WAV sound file.
My nuvi 275T displays the red banner with a warning (plus I have icon on map and spoken "Red light camera" warning as well). My unit is also up to date with all firmware and software thingies (checking with WebUpdater).

My roommate's 255W, which is the unit you have according to your "about me" page, displays the red banner. Garmin Mobile XT however only displays a gray box. It varies depending on the model, so we need to know what model you have if it isn't a 255W. In addition...
1. How are you loading the files to your GPS?
2. Have you made changes to the files before uploading them?
3. Do you have icons and sound files?

I used Garmin POI Software to download them to the Nuvi 255w Unit.
Prior to loading.
It is in a CSV file format:
There is Redlight.bmp, Redlight.wav.
They are located in one file name, then I used the express mode in Garmin Software. It sounds the wav sound when I approach the camera. See icon on LCD screen when alerted. The red banner has never appeared. Any Help be appreciated.

Your problem with the icon not displaying is a known windows problem. Your icon file, redlight.bmp has two extensions. Go to Control panel, Folder Options, View and uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types." Then rename your redlight.bmp file so it has only a single .bmp

I didn't think of that myself, but it's also a problem I've never come across, because I always have extensions displayed.

Red Alert Banner
I have a 255W and get the small grey marking on the screen. I've never had the red alert banner your describing.
Hopefully other 2x5 owners can tell us what they get. I didn't think this series could display the red alert banner

I believe you are correct.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

No red banner on my 265WT
My 265WT does not display any red banner. It displays only a small black (not gray) rectangle near the top of the map screen with the message about the intersection location within the rectangle.
