Voting for 2010 Contributors of the Year

This year I am going to let the community pick someone for this award. I will also pick a second person based on my behind the scenes insight as moderator.

JM has programmed a voting system for us. We are opening the voting booth for about three weeks starting December 13th, and voting will end at midnight December 31st (Eastern Time).

Voting is open to General Maintainers only. You have to be a General Maintainer to vote, and you have to be one to get voted for. (And you can't vote for me. evil )

Here is a link to a list of all the General Maintainers:

www.poi-factory.com/pfu/general-maintainer-list

Here is a link to the voting summary:

www.poi-factory.com/pfvote/summary

You only get to vote for one person; however you can change your vote if you decide to vote for someone else.

This discussion thread will be your place to rally votes for your favorite contributors.

What, no write-in votes

What, no write-in votes allowed? confused

Don't forget - no campaigning within 100 feet of the voting facility! crying

Also, no voter intimidation, e.g. displaying a weapon, Black Panther Party with nightstick, etc., etc. shock

Remember, redlight cameras will be converted and used for surveillance purposes at all polling places. wink

Just to ease everyone's mind

Just to ease everyone's mind I thought I would let you know that voting will be anonymous and no one will know who you have voted for.

Miss POI

Nice

I think the users and contributors know who does what around the site.

Do we get a sticker that says "I Voted"?

Whewwey - did you see that list ?

I don't know of many sites that can boast of having some 492 ACTIVE MEMBERS - like us, people that atcually write on a regular basis ?

Miss POI, I know we can't vote for you. Can we at least award you a medal for having tamed such a rowdy crowd as ours, and for putting up with our comments, too ?

Would anyone agree with that idea ? Miss POI for GPS President !

And Hey, now there's a chance of us getting together in some place. Let's think, 492 members, add the Best-partner, the dogs and the kids - you think we could book Disney World ?

Voting Open

The voting is now open;)

If you're a General Maintainer, you can vote by visiting the user profile page of another user.

Only users with General Maintainer status are eligible to receive votes. You can find a list at this page:

http://www.poi-factory.com/pfu/general-maintainer-list

The link with their name will send you to their profile page. You will see an area at the bottom where you can cast your vote for this individual.

You can change your vote at any time if you find that you want to vote for someone else. You just have to go to the new person's profile page and cast your vote for them. Your original vote will be erased.

Here is a page with the voting summary which will give you details on how the voting is going:

Special Link On Main Page Titled VOTE HERE To Really Standout

Miss POI - I believe you should [somehow] put a special link that is titled "VOTE HERE" (in large bold type) on the main page. I believe a large number of people that can vote will overlook this somewhat hidden thread and NOT cast their vote.

If you can get the VOTE HERE [linked] title to really standout so it catches people's attention (e.g. wild color, flashing, etc.), all the better.

Just a thought...

My favorite years for muscle cars is 1965-1970. 69 was a really great year.

I like the Barracuda, Camaro, Shelby Mustang. After those years the cars started to lose the body shape that I like.

Miss POI

It is in my blood

When I was little my dad had a Model T and we were part of the Portland Model T club.

I was exposed to some really beautiful cars, he was also into muscle cars. My dad is a diesel mechanic that used to work on Semi trucks, now he is working on tractors.

Miss POI

How about this?

Miss POI

One of my favorite engines from that era was the Ford 406. It was only 24" from exhaust port to exhaust port and fit so nicely into so many different bodies for builders.

One of my wishes was to take one and shoehorn it into one of the little sports car bodies such as an Austin Healey or the ultimate a Mini Cooper. (And yes, I had one of the '63 Coopers that ran on 10" doughnuts.)

1967 Pontiac 2+2, 428 cu. in., 4-speed Hurst on the floor. Gold, 2-door black hardtop.

That sucker could GO! But, it had a "drinking problem." It would only run good on Sunoco 260 (their highest octane blend). Good thing gas was cheaper back then. Could never afford to feed that car at today's gas prices.

We will be working on it today, I spent all day yesterday researching for today's camera update.

Jon is happy with the voter

Jon is happy with the voter turnout for right now. He will look at doing something in a few weeks if it looks like we are not getting the numbers that we should.

Miss POI

Just a couple more thoughts!

Yes, I see that voting has picked up but...I still bet a number of people are overlooking this thread.

Here's something you could do that would catch everyone's attention - change the title to this thread to: ALL POI MEMBERS - LOOK AT THIS!!!
Then, whenever this thread appears in the "Active Forum Topics" it will prompt them to read it...and vote.

Or you could just start a new thread with a catchy title and the vital links...lock the thread and sticky it in the Active Forum Topics list.

Just a couple more thoughts!idea

There has been about a 10% "voter turnout" so far.
