New Posts on the second page

When I click the new messages on "unread messages" and there is a thread that is more then 1 page, it always takes me to the first page and I have to scroll down to the bottom, click the second page, and then scroll down the 2nd page to see the new additions which don't have "new" on them. Am I doing something wrong? or is that how it works?

I asked the "Boss" if it would be difficult for him to put a page-link at the top of each page of multi-page threads to eliminate the need to scroll through the page to get to the page link. Am I lazy or what??!!

Multiple Page Views

If the list could be reversed so that most recent post is first like most forums (Trip Advisor comes to mind), then we would avoid all the extra scrolling. Thanks.

I had mentioned this problem a while back. I understand that the software has a bug so that the second page does not mark new items as new. It makes it particularly difficult if you have multiple messages on the same day. Need to check the day and then see which was the last one you read. (Of course, I can see under unread messages how many are new, but it becomes too cumbersome._ I too would like to see the last messages first, or an option to set it up either way and possibly resort them. At the time, others did not see it as a problem.

I think it's more "important" now since the site has grown so much in the forum area. Would be a time saver for sure.

partial fix

I spent most of today looking at fixes, but what I ended up implementing is only a partial workaround.

I ended up implementing retiredtechnician's suggestion to add page links near the top so that you don't need to scroll all the way to the bottom to move to the next page.

Jumping to new posts that start after the first page is a tougher problem to solve, and it looks like it would require hacking the underlying web platform. That's not an approach I want to take, so I made sure the bug is logged against the web platform and hopefully we'll eventually see it fixed in a future release.

Sorry I don't have a complete fix at this point.

JM

Great, thanks for the try

Great, thanks for the try and it will definitely help having that link at the top of the page.

Fantastic! Works like a dream.

Again, you two amaze me! Thank you.

Another little improvement

If you're using the unread posts feature, clicking the new link now takes you to the page with the first new post.

GREAT!!!

As of last night, this new functionality doesn't seem to work. I am left on the first page when I click unread posts. I was really enjoying the functionality and am now spoiled.
