Garmin needs to fix the problem of the 3790 not saving poi's when you eject or safely remove the unit from the usb cable. In order for the unit to save the data you have to remove the usb cable from the unit without safely disconnecting or ejecting the unit. Minor problem, but one that needs addressing.
The only way to get Garmin
The only way to get Garmin moving is emails and phone calls from 3790 owners about the problem.

Yes..and the firmware for Mapsource will not be until the 1st Qtr of 2011..so your routes from Mapsource will not transfer at the present moment....however, I did not know about the poi not taking if you remove the unit safely....so you just have to disconnect it and they will take ??

For Windows (perhaps not all versions) plus Mac 10.x it seems you need to just pull the USB plug after data transfers or the new data will not be written to the 3790.
The new firmware is due to add the Ecoroute HD option. No word on if it will fix this write problem but I am hoping it will.

"Pulling the plug" is not the main issue with routes...
Routes are designed in a different way on the 37xx series (they are now called "Trips") so the old routes that were once transferable from MapSource to the previous nuvis do not work at all with the 37xx.
The "pulling the plug" issue is indeed an issue that also needs to be addressed since many users are not getting complete map updates or POI transfers to the unit without knowing about this trick. After "safely disconnecting" my USB devices so faithfully for all these years, it seems quite strange to have to do the total opposite with the 37xx series.

Lol never believed in Safely disconnecting my usb's.
Too much work. I always check in explorer to make sure the files are there. If so, out comes the plug.
But i'm an old msdos and linux guy..all manual. Never got used to this plug and pray thing. I guess the new 37XX and I will get a long just fine, after they fix some stuff on it.

3790 Problems
- Unit frozen all the time and have to do the reset.
- Map screen went blank, unit still guiding but no map.
- Sometimes the unit won't shut off when turn off car and remove key. (power supply off)
Garmin need to address these issue and this is flagship device from them. Should not have these problem.
