It is a feature I sorely miss. I am thinking about getting rid of my piece of crap 765T. If I upgrade, this is a feature I would like to have back.
Of the newest Garmin units, only 37xx series shows the next upcoming cross street in the green info bar while not navigating a route. None of the 1xxx series do.
My 765t shows the upcoming street when Not Navigating.
Another very good reason to keep my old, outdated 750. Let's see:
1. MP3 player - Check
2. FM transmitter (although it could use more power) - check
3. External speaker jack - Check
4. Cross Streets in the banner when NOT navigating - Check
Yep, I'm happy with the oldlie but goodie.
We are talking about what is displayed in the *green info bar at the top of the screen*, not what's displayed on the moving map. My 765 does NOT show the next upcoming cross street when not navigating...instead, it shows the name of the street you are currently on.
My 660 Does that....
MY 765T SHOWS THE NEXT STREET IN THE GREEN BAR WHEN NOT IN NAVIGATION MODE!!!
Something is wrong with your unit!
I mean no disrespect, but I think you might be mistaken.
The 765 only shows what is coming "next" in the green bar when you are in non-navigational mode on state and interstate highways, wherein it will display the next upcoming exit.
I believe it was a FW update that killed this feature a while ago...
My 250w shows up coming cross streets when just driving around.
The new 1695 shows upcoming cross street.
Do you have the 1695 and if you do how about a small review thanks.
This is by no means a comprehensive list but according to my experience:
Units that show *the next upcoming cross street* in the green info banner when NOT navigating a route and NOT on a highway with exit data:
nuvi 1695 (according to other reports here)
Units that show *the street you're currently on* in the green info banner when NOT navigating a route and NOT on a highway with exit data:
If you're on a freeway/highway with exit data and NOT navigating on a route, ALL units will show the next upcoming exit in the green info bar.
If I was a betting man, and I am, I'd wager that DorkusNimrod is right.
It has a 3.62 GB of storage on it haven’t played with it a whole lot but I like it a whole lot better than the other Garmin’s , Tom Toms an motorola that I have owned so far. Haven’t tried it with any of the map programs The volume is plenty high compared to my other gps I use them with 90 to 100% have the 1695 set at 60%. Also I like the larger display.
My 775T has 8 gigs (/1024, of course). The 5" display is very nice though...
Ya.... my money would be on DorkusNimrod too.
I have a 2730 which does show the upcoming streets and I absolutely Love it.
Even the boxes with the info fields can be adjusted to display different info.
I didn't know the 3790 showed upcoming streets but I'm glad the feature is still in some of the models.
Now... if we just get Garmin to display the same level of details on the maps as they did in the 2730, I be love all over again.
I am keeping my 780 as long as I can just for this upcoming street detail.
Not having that feature is a real shame on some of the units.
