How 'Bout Them Rangers!?!

For the first time in forever, the Texas Rangers are in the Pennant Race and one game from the World Series to boot!

Of course that one game is a pretty big stumbling block when the other team is the NY Yankees, but maybe we can pull it off.

Go Rangers!

Rangers Vs. Yankees

I certainly hope they don't pull it off. I've been a Yankee fan for over 50 years.

Let some other team have a crack at it...

Posted by a New Yorker, just not a Yankee fan.

We haven't got it done just yet.

Now that Tom Hicks is gone maybe we stand a chance. That man screwed up more than just sports teams. I personally witnessed him bankrupt more than one company while he lined his and his buddy's pockets. Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst were the investing partners until the others dissolved their relationship with Hicks.

Now if only Jerry Jones and Mark Cuban would leave the DFW area then we can have champions with the Cowboys and the Mavericks.

Professional Sports

There is no "our team" in professional sports, it's one rich guy's money against another rich guy's money.

WooHoo! Rangers Are Going to the World Series!

They did it, the Rangers beat the Yankees! Going to the World Series is great, beating the Yankees just adds to the sweetness of the victory (after our debacle in 1996, '98 and '99).

Yankees are All time Great and 27 Title ChampionShip

I Give my Hats off to the Rangers,
But Remember the Yankees are still Number 1 in my Book. 27 championship Titles , no other franchise or team has come close to that record smile.

Small comfort

Something has to make up for the NY Rangers.

Looks like they play the New York Giants.

Texas/Washington vs SanFranciso/New York

It's nice to see some different teams in the World Series, and particularly nice that neither team has ever won the Series - in their current location.

Texas Rangers

I agree with DanielT. Am tired of the same teams even if I live in NY.

Absolutely

Absolutely, Daniel and alan. Of course, the Giants have been in the Series a number of times, most recently 2002 and 1989, but they haven't won since 1954, so it feels like two new teams in there, which adds a lot of interest. And I'm glad it wasn't the Phillies or Yankees again. I don't really have a favorite horse as a fan here, but the Rangers look tough to beat to me.

the plus side

Yankees loss = less traffic in NYC.

MLB may have a different take

I'm sure they won't admit it but MLB would have probably preferred a Yankees / Phillies rematch. The TV ratings and general baseball interest would have been much higher in that matchup. Baseball has had down attendance and revenue and been down this year.

For once

I'm glad that there are different teams in the World Series. It's even sweeter that it's my Rangers this year. Now if only the Cardinals had won the NLCS......................

RANGERS will come back and win in Game 2..........

My prediction anyways.....

Hopefully they will charge up like they did from the first lost to the Yankees in the AL series.

not looking good for the rangers now-- and a question

I feel bad for them-- so many balls/ walks right now.
Hey, help me -- what is the significance of those braided cords the players are wearing around their necks?

hope things go better for them!

They better get going or they will be shut out.

Empty seats

I watched the hockey game last night. The Dallas Stars fans must have been at home watching the Rangers.

Rangers-Giants

How do you feel about the Rangers' chances after the first two games of the World Series?

Go Giants

Nice game yesterday. Up 2 - 0. That is going to be tough to make up.

Depends...

Let's see how they do at home. They haven't been your typical team all season, so they could come back.

Do or die

It's win or go home time for Texas.

Where Are The Rangers?

So game 3 was more like I expected, and then they don't show up for game 4! They had better start playing or it's game over.

Not looking so tough any more. That prediction didn't play out too well. Stay tuned for my BCS and NFL playoff picks.

Congratulations to the Giants and their fans. Well deserved win.

Regardless of who your

Regardless of who your favorite team is, the World Series is a fantastic event. It marks the end of a summer, as well as the culmination of the baseball season.A piece of Americana at its best.

Disappointing

Oh well, not much drama and intrigue in this World Series. It was fairly clear who was going to walk away with the trophy after game one.

Maybe next year the teams will give better competition and my Yankees will have reloaded by then.

Yep...

The Ranger's only showed up for one game in the World Series, but it was fun taking the American League Pennant from the Yankees!

It's kind of funny that people may have different "favorite" teams, but there are always the teams that a large portion of the population HATE twisted . In baseball it's the Yankees... anybody but the Yankees!

At least for people outside of New York.

Remember those Rangers

I went to the Ranger's ball games during the times of Nolan Ryan. Anyone remember Nolan??

Never saw him pitch live, but happened to see him pitch his #6 No Hitter on TV.
