Something I noticed on 1490T

When you zoom out and then scroll to a different part of the continent (lets say California). If you try to zoom in on that part the map goes back to the area that you originated from. On my 265WT I used to be able to go to any part of NA and then zoom into it. Any suggestions?

same problem

I've had my 1490T for about two weeks now (and about 3,000 miles). I was having that same problem. I hope it's just something I'm doing wrong.

click the screen first

Zooming centers around the little pointer. If you scroll the map and zoom, it will still zoom to where you left your pointer, not the center of the displayed screen.

You need to tap once to get your pointer into the current view, then zoom.

that did it

Thanks for that tip. It was driving me crazy.

Forgetting to move the pointer before zooming in

Even if I know this, I'll forget to move the pointer after the lo-o-o-ngest time scrolling around to look for something only to lose my place when hitting the zoom button. Then I smack myself on the head, "you dummy".

know that feeling

Yes - almost as bad as forgetting to turn off the "Toll Avoidances". That mistake can take you way way out of your way if your not careful.
