Can custom routes from map source be put on the nuvi3790t

Can custom routes from map source be put on the nuvi3790t, and if yes how can you do it. Should you be able to? It says that they were transferred but their not on the unit. I use this for work also and am finding it to be a big letdown for the price!!!!!!!!

.

Does not work yet for that model line.

Garmin says this unit is one of those with "Multiple Point Routing". The manual indicates that one can "Add to current route"

Since Motorcycle Mama is usually right, I want to make sure that the matrix I am creating for GPS features is corrent.

Anyone with a 3790T that has used MapSource to download a route?

.

The routes (now referred to on the unit as Trip Planner) used on the 37xx series are different and are not compatible with the old method. The 37xx has no means to import the route even if it is sent from MapSource. The compatibility -may- be added in the future but no one really knows if/when it will happen.

We need to correct Garmin

A FAQ at the Garmin site says:

"How do I transfer waypoints to a nuvi using MapSource?

Answer:
You can transfer waypoints (Favorites) to your nuvi using MapSource by following the steps below:

Create the waypoints in MapSource
Please make sure to use the newest version of MapSource. The file can be downloaded by clicking on the correct version below:
Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7
Windows 98, Windows Me, and Windows NT
Connect the nuvi to the PC
In MapSource click Transfer
Click Send to Device
In the pop-up window, confirm that 'Waypoints' is checked.
Click Send
Once the transfer is complete, eject the device from the PC and allow it to power on. To verify that your waypoints transferred properly, touch ‘Where To?’, then ‘Favorites’.

Last modified on: 06/24/2010"

DorkusNimrod is correct that the concept is now called "Trip Planner"

The manual (for use with 3750 3760 3790) says that Maps and GPX waypoint files from MapSource are supported (pg 44)

There should have been some reference to MapSource on pg 61 which I did not find.

Still looking for someone with 3790T to comment.

.

Two (actually three) COMPLETELY different things.

You CAN transfer WAYPOINTS/FAVORITES to the 37xx from MapSource with no problem.

You CANNOT currently transfer ROUTES to the 37xx from MapSource. They will NOT show up in the Trip Planner or anywhere else on the unit.

You CAN currently create and save Multi-Point routes ON the 37xx.

.
Nowhere on Garmin's site does it currently discuss transferring routes from MapSource to the 37xx.

.
(Note for clarity, I have a 3760T.)
Note also that I too am looking for this functionality in the future.

ugggggg

I will look for custom routing in the next unit I buy. For now if its a long trip you can set a via point in the middle or end to coax it along. I shouldnt have to do this!

Thanks for the clarification

All exactly

All exactly correct as usual smile . For the folks looking for confirmation of this from a 3790T owner, I can confirm that the above is correct, currently.

I have brought this post

I have brought this post forward from august 4 2010 hoping that there is an update for the GARMIN SOFTWARE PROBLEM, I have been in touch with garmin 3 times and they are still working on transfering the mapsource MAP on my PC to the garmin GPS, THE ONLY THINGS that get transfered are waypoints (which need a visual hyway identification otherwise thy are meaningless when you look at the waypoint list) I am under the impression that GARMIN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM for atleased 5 months.

any input would be wellcome

this is the first forum I have seen that has addressed this problem.

.

This issue has not yet be corrected via update from Garmin.

Have said that a firmware update expected in the 1st quarter of 2011 will address it, for approximately the same time.

It also has been discussed along with other 37xx issues on at least 2 other forums:
