SD card (what size for Garmin 1300)

I have a Garmin 1300 and was wondering what size (memory) SD card it supports or would be advisable to purchase?

.

My total POI file size is 5.21 megabytes. That includes over 100,000 separate POI addresses on a 512MB card.

Get a 512MB or a 1 gig at the most. You'll do fine.

SD Card

You should be able to use up to an 8 or 16 gig. However, I have never seen a need to use one bigger than 8 gig. I have heard of others who load A LOT more POI files tham I do and still have plenty of space.

SD cards are cheap

They are getting cheaper all the time. Get at least a 2Gb one since most of the maps are 1Gb+.

SD Card for 1350T

Has anyone had problems with the Icons not displaying after a certain point from POIs that are on the SD Card? I have Custom POIs on my 1350T and Custom POIs on my SD Card. I have checked the POIs and there are no misspellings, etc. When I put the ones not displaying their icons on the garmin they work fine. When they are on the SD Card they don't show the ICON. These Icons are all from POI Factory. I am running out of space on the 1350T and would like the majority of them on the SD Card (I tried to put all on the SD Card and end up having the same problem.

I would delete the unused

I would delete the unused text and voice files to give yourself more space if you're running out. Then load the POIs to the card.

But, just how many POIs do you have that you're running out of space?

4GB

I've been using on my 1250t a Class6 4G AData micro SDHC with no problems. You can get similar card for $12-15 from different suppliers. Most likely you can use a larger card, but it's hard to believe you have a need for one bigger than 4GB.

.

Garmin officially supports any size card (standard SD or SDHC, either format) up to 16GB.

SD Cards

My 1350 only supports a micro-SD card, & I used an 8 GB one.

SD Card 1350T

I have deleted all of the unused text and voice files. I have a large number of POIs. I started having the space problem after the last map upgrade and software upgrades.
I have a 4g micro card and have not hardly used any space on it, which is why I wanted to put my custom pois on it.

Now I understand how you

Now I understand how you could have space issues, with North America and Europe on your internal memory. The 4GB card is fine, but I'm curious as to just how many POIs you have on that thing. I only have 6600 on mine because I tend to limit myself to rest areas, red light and speed cameras, and my Historic Vessels POI, which is the largest file.

A 1-2 gig should be more than enough.

What is the largest Secure Digital (SD) card that my nuvi, zumo, or StreetPilot can accept?
Answer:
As long as the unit has the latest version of software, your unit can use the following maximum card size from the table below. You can use the WebUpdater program to download the latest unit software.
Unit Series Maximum Size of SD card
nuvi 16 GB
zumo 16 GB
StreetPilot C500 2 GB
StreetPilot C300* 2 GB
StreetPilot i-series* 2 GB
StreetPilot 7200 / 7500 2 GB
Depending on the model of your unit, it may use either a full size SD card or a microSD card. If you are not sure which your unit requires, please refer to its documentation.
*Note: If you have an OEM dealer device please refer to the series above that fits your device. StreetPilot C300 and i-series units do not currently support the SDHC (High Capacity) cards.

I have the Nuvi 200W

My memory on the Nuvi is 750MG . I also have a 2 Gig sd card that I use in my camera, however these sd cards are so cheap. 1 or 2 Gig would be just fine. Fuccowie, how do you like the 1300?

New to Nuvi and am just learning about POI files Lew. Enjoy it more than my C330.

I thought about upgrading to a newer unit, however now that I have learned all I need to know on the operation of the unit, I have decided to keep it simple and stay with the 200W. I just d/loaded the new maps from Garmin. It took sometime once you finally got to the d/load screen. They move you through several screens and ask questions, etc. It took well over an hour for it to complete. I noticed a big difference in the number of POI's, Lodging, Restaurants, Fuel, Etc. However near home the route tells me to turn onto a road that is not there. I thought the new maps would correct this but it didn't. I see you are in Lakeland Florida. I am going to be there in October at The Lake Mirror Classic. We might can meet up and check out the cars and talk about POI's, etc.

Is this an old 200W with the old firmware and screen design, or a new one? In any case, check your detail maps and see if they left out any states in the continental US, because on my 200W (old firmware), I cannot fit the continental 48 states on the unit anymore. California and Oregon have to go on the SD card (along with Canada and Mexico, but I digress).

SanDisk 4GB Micro SD HC

With deleting all my non-USA English files and adding a SanDisk 4GB Micro SD HC, I have more than enough memory to hold all the POI info that I'll ever need.
