Bah, humbug . . . oh, that would be the official Christmas greeting, no?

That could be 'Happy Confederation Day' if some Gevernment MP has his way. (perhaps they are looking for new ways to waste our grandchildren's money since the spigot for the G8/G20 got shut off).

Small Town Celebrations

I have lived in a number of large cities over the years, and think Canada Day celebrations are more enjoyable in smaller towns. Today we will head out to the pancake breakfast, then find the best spot for the parade and wave at all our friends - or the children of our friends - in the parade. For lunch we will head down to the farmers market and then off to the park to listen to some local talent (too much Country for my liking). After an afternoon barbecue and a few pops, we will watch the volunteer fire department shoot off some fireworks from the hills.

None of these celebrations or events will be as polished and professional as in Toronto, Vancouver or Winnipeg (other places I have spent Canada Day) but I am sure we will have twice as much fun.

What are you still doing in Florida? Winter is over up here now so it is safe to come back or did you want to wait till the G20 was over and miss being arrested?

Cheers ....Happy Canada Day! smile

You obviously don't live on the west coast. Cold and raining here all spring and summer, still feels like winter. Not going to stop us from having a great Canada Day though.grin

Happy Birthday Canada!

Visited your lovely country just a few weeks ago. A perfect reason to use my GPS: the Country Cruize-In in London Ontario. Claimed to have 4-5,000 cars there and I must have seen them all! What a great event, venue, and time!

The guy that owns the estate, Steve Plunkett I think is his name, has two buildings devoted to his Cadillac collection. One for newer models, circa 1950s and newer, and a beautiful country building for his older models, including a V-16!

Although my 1490T blinked off mysteriously once in Canada on the way there, I was able to revive it and all turned out fine.

Well, I went back for a couple of weeks in May but Florida has been my permanent home for 14 years. Nonetheless, deep inside I am still a Canadian. smile
