Removing a via point.

Menu - Tools - Custom Routes - Current Route - Add or Remove Points

Tap "Where To?".
Page down until you find "Custom Routes" and tap on it.
Select the route you want to change and tap it.
Tap on "Edit" at the bottom of the screen.
Tap on "Add or Remove Points".
Tap on the "Red - sign" that you want to remove.
Tap on "Yes"
Tap on "Next".
Tap on "Save"
Tap on "Back" until you get back to the main screen and tap "View Map".

That works for me on my 760 and 765 nuvi's.

Your profile says you have a Nuvi 255W. I don't think there is a way to remove a via point on a Nuvi 2x5 series.

You have to cancel the route by pressing Stop on the main screen then re-enter the destination.

You can just drive on past the via point and it will recaluate or just cancel and go back to recently found and select the one you want and touch go.

I also just keep driving. It figures out that you don't want to do it and will get you back to your original destination.

How far past?

I noticed we were always directed to the center of towns during our "first" misuse of my friend's Street Pilot three years ago...

Of course, my friend would slit his throat before reading a manual...
