Accuracy of Red Light Cameras

What has anyone's experience been with the accuracy of the red light cameras, including percentage of accurate locations, and cameras that do not show up.

Accuracy Of Red Light Cameras

By accuracy do you mean how they work, or are the locations accurate?

In Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York, the locations are 100% accurate as of today. In nearby New York City there are hundreds of red light cameras. I am not involved in reporting those locations, but I do drive in NYC and the relatively small number of locations I have seen are accurate.

Thanks for the info, I did

Thanks for the info, I did mean the accuracy of the locations.

I am in Nassau County, and most of the maps I have seen do not include some cameras I know of on Old Country Road. I had also just submitted a question about if there is a link for the map to view on a computer, so I could submit the additional camera locations if they are not listed.

Old Country Road

All the locations on Old Country Road are included. If there is a specific intersection you're thinking of, post it.

Be aware that the list of cameras and map in Newsday.com is not accurate! They have many more locations than really exist. Also construction would be ongoing now for other locations, but they have not been activated yet.

On the other question about viewing them on a map, there are other forum participants who know a lot more about it than me!

Very good so far.

Pretty Good

I have found the list to be pretty good, but on a couple of occasions have come across newer cameras that had not been reported yet. I reported them. The data is only as good as those reporting it, and if no one reports it, it won't be in the file.

Exactly right

Exactly, if you live in an area in which people quickly submit camera locations, it will be very accurate. This concept also makes less work for everybody involved since it distributes the workload among many individuals.
