Jacks Directions over the FM Transmitter

Is there a way to have voice directions (Jack) over the FM transmitter and through the vehicle speakers?
The book says Nuvi audio is transmitted. Voice directions do not work for me...
Maybe I am missing something.

Model?

What model do you have? The setup varies.

FM Transmitter

There are hundreds of posts in other threads about the inadequate FM transmitter. It hardly works with my nuvi 760. I bought a mini powered speaker that plugs in to the nuvi.

Jack speaks FM

Since you didn't mention your Garmin Nuvi Model, I will try to help using a generic setup for a Nuvi 610, Nuvi 660, and Nuvi 670 found on page 35 of their manual to help you along. you can go to the Garmin website and check the manual for your own particular GPSr.

Listening to the nüvi on an FM Stereo
1. On the Menu page, touch > Audio Output > FM Transmitter > OK.
2. If you are using a traffic receiver, touch Auto Tune. Then tune your stereo to
the selected channel.
OR
Tune your stereo to an FM channel that has a lot of static and has a low FM
frequency number. Then select that same channel on the nüvi.
Switching between the nüvi and an FM Stereo
1. On the Menu page, touch > Audio Output.
2. Touch an output mode, and touch OK.
To switch the audio output between the nüvi and an FM stereo (where available),
quickly press the Power button twice.

I hope this is what your looking for. Don't forget to check your manual for your exact model.

If your car has an audio jack that is the best way to get the sound through your speakers. If you do that the other problem is you can either listen to the radio/cd player OR Jack but not both without switching back and forth. I believe Garmin has quit including the FM transmitter in their new units because of the problems people are having.

Thanks for the inputs.
I have a Nuvi 855.
The audio output page has only two choices;
Internal Speaker
FM Transmitter

When I choose FM transmitter I am only able to hear the media on the unit. No Jack!
The mixer page only controls the volume of Voice and Media independently.
Is there anything else I can do to get Jack on the truck speakers?
Actually, using the FM transmitter works well in the truck when a FM channel is available.
