Nuvi 770 lost for about ten minutes

Last Thursday night around 10:00pm, when I switch my GPS on, it showed me to be over 1 mile and a half North-East of where I was for about ten minutes. I tried to switch it off and back on, but it insisted that we were elsewhere. I was driving due East on the 101 and the GPS showed the car also moving due East but a mile and a half NE of my location, in the middle of the hill (not locked on any road as there are none).

It took about then minute to slowly drift back to the correct location and lock onto the freeway. It is not a map issue as it showed me the proper location on my way there in the afternoon.

This was the first time in over two years with that unit. Did anyone else experience such a thing?

My nuvi 760

has done similar things recently, coming out of my complex. It was weird because satellite strength was full, but it thought I was in between 2 streets driving on nothing for probably 5 minutes before it corrected again. I'm using the very latest map downloaded under the lifetime map program.

It is more common that most people imagine.

Sometimes caused by blocked reception due to buildings, trees, severe storms, etc.
And we are entering a period of increasing sun spots.

You turning it off and on just made matters worse.
Turning it on while moving also makes it more likely.

If you can, it's better to be standing still when you turn it on.......and near to the place where it was last turned off.....with a clear view of the sky.

Nuvi Lost

That has happened to me when I turn it off in one place and turn it on in another, while driving. Now I always have the Nuvi on, and it rarely gets lost. If it does get lost, I stop in a place with a good view of the sky and turn it off and on again, and it quickly gets the right position.
